Participants in the Gender Studies workshop of the 5th IUPAP International Conference on Women in
Physics discussed the gender question in science practice from a policy perspective, informed by investigations from the
social science disciplines. The workshop

Science,” “A Comparative
Study of Women Scientists and Engineers: Experiences in India and the US,” and “Toward
Gender Equity Through Policy: Characterizing the Social Impact of Interventions
are summarized, and the resulting
recommendations presented.
