A general upper limit is obtained on the mass of a cluster of pregalactic supermassive stars, along with the entropy of the radiation they produce, in view of the suggestion that they account for some or even all of the blackbody cosmic radiation in whose 3 K spectrum a distortion has recently been found. It is noted that the equations for the critical mass and radius of the cluster lead to results which compare well with the mass and radius of the universe.en
