Prototype for pulsar observations at low radio frequencies using log-periodic dipole antennas

Abstract

A prototype for dedicated observations of pulsars and other astrophysical transients in the frequency range of 50 to 80 MHz has been recently commissioned in the Gauribidanur Radio Observatory near Bangalore in India. The antenna setup, the analog and digital receiver systems, and the initial observations are presented.
