Abstract:
The author has used the impulsive approximation technique to numerically estimate the effect of dynamical friction on the motion of a supermassive black hole (mass ≈ 10/sup9M_sun;) through a galaxy (mass ≈ 10/sup11M_sun;) which has recoiled from the center of the latter as a result of rocket effect (anisotropic emission of gravitational radiation or plasma emission etc.)
