dc.description.abstract Several independent considerations which rule out the hypothesis that the missing mass in galactic halos is composed of massive neutral fermions such as neutrinos, gravitinos, or photinos are discussed. It is found that the hypothesis does not naturally account for the observational features of such halos as the flat rotation curves and density distributions. The inadequacy of nonprimordial neutrinos to explain the discrepant mass is shown. It is concluded that neutrinos, gravitinos, and photinos are unsatisfactory candidates for the missing matter in galactic halos. en
