General relativistic effects of rotation on the structure and surface emission of the fast pulsar PSR 1937 + 214 are illustrated using a rotationally perturbed interior spherical metric. The results are found to differ markedly from those derived on the basis of simple spherical models, and are expected to be generally valid for the class of fast pulsars.en
