An investigation is conducted concerning the association between the daytime scintillations of ATS-6 signals received at Ootacamund and the ionograms at the nearby station Kodaikanal, India. The investigation shows that the scintillations of the radio waves from earth satellites observed during the daytime hours at equatorial stations are not associated with the q type of the sporadic E layer but are closely connected with either the h or l types of the Es layer which produced multiple or M reflections.en
