Scattering phase matrices for forbidden lines are derived, in the presence of an external magnetic field, using the quantum electrodynamical approach. The particular case of 0 -> 2 -> 0 M2 transitions are considered and Stokes profiles are shown in the strong field (Zeeman) and weak field (Hanle) limits, covering also the regime of intermediate field strengths.en
