The equilibrium of a charged test particle in the field of the Kerr-Newman metric is studied. It is shown that equilibrium is possible only (i) on the axis, or (ii) in the equatorial plane. Conditions governing equilibrium are obtained. The stability of equilibrium positions against small perturbations are investigated.en
