Abstract: Need for application of Image processing techniques in astronomical studies in optical wavelengths and special advantages accruing thereby are discussed. The paper describes various image processing facilities that are being used with Vax-11/780 system at Vainu Bappu Observatory, Kavalur. The use of various software packages and graphics that are being used in connection with different astronomical problems are demonstrated. Preliminary results derived from ultraviolet observations of R Cr B stars using IUEDR package contained in STARLINK software are also discussed.
