The production of C(1 D) atoms and their role in the production of (C1, C2, C3, C4) hydrocarbons in Titan's atmosphere are discussed. The reaction between C(1 D) atom and H2 molecule to produce the methylidyne (CH) radical (Okabe, 1978) is suggested as a possible mechanism which provides an additional route to the production of hydrocarbons in Titan's atmosphere.en
